Engineering For Kids of North Atlanta brings science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM), to children ages 4 to 14 in a fun and challenging way through after-school enrichment classes, workshops, camps, birthday parties, and special events.

We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Lead Summer Camp Instructors for our Minecraft and Esports camps. As a Lead Summer Camp Instructor, you will play a vital role in creating a fun and safe environment for campers to learn, grow, and create lasting memories. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children while gaining valuable experience in education.

Site Placement

  • Lead Instructors will be placed at schools based on current vacancies and their availability for full-day summer camps.
  • Lead Instructors will be issued supplies/materials to pick up and utilize for their summer camps. The Lead Instructors must return the remaining supplies/materials after each assigned summer camp week.
Camp Expectations

  • Lead Instructors will teach the provided Minecraft and Esports lesson plans to students who have registered for their camps at assigned schools.
  • Take, set up, distribute, and clean up the necessary distributed supplies when facilitating the activities in the lesson plans.
  • Exhibit knowledge of classroom management techniques to maintain a structured and organized camp environment.
  • Exhibit the ability to manage behavior effectively and implement behavior management strategies when necessary.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times.
  • Follow the guidelines in the program’s operating procedures and teacher handbook.
  • Follow each assigned site’s written and verbal instructions that pertain to campus and camp operations.
  • Exhibit professionalism with all stakeholders such as students, parents, site staff, program staff, etc.
  • Report any significant program-related concerns to the designated program staff.
  • Collaborate with any other camp staff to create a positive and inclusive camp environment.
Professional Experience

  • The instructor must have at least 2 years of experience working with children in elementary and/or middle school. Enrichment and/or classroom teaching experience is a plus.
  • The instructor must have played Minecraft and Esports before and know the basic logistics of the games.
Education

  • The Instructor must have a college degree or be pursuing a college degree.
Certification

  • The instructor must provide documentation of unexpired CPR/First Aid Certification before teaching the camp. This is a hiring requirement and not a paid work activity.
Additional Requirements

  • The instructor must have a laptop or computer and a printer.
  • The instructor must have reliable transportation.
  • Some sites where Lead Instructors are placed require additional background checks and external training requirements that include one or more of the following: background check forms, fingerprinting, drug screening, and online or in-person external training. The instructors who have external training, fingerprinting and/or drug screening requirements will be paid $15 upon completion of each requirement.
Pay

  • The compensation range is $500 - $630 per week for full-day camps.
  • The weekly compensation includes payment for an extra hour on each day that Lead Instructors teach for arriving 30 minutes before the start time of the camp for activity set up and staying up to 30 minutes after the camp for student dismissal and activity clean up.
  • A weekly attendance bonus of $50 will provided for eligible Lead Instructors.
  • Lead Instructors have an Independent Contractor classification (1099-NEC tax form).
Locations

  • Minecraft and Esports camps will be offered at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, located at 805 Mount Vernon Hwy NW, Atlanta, GA 30327.
  • Esports (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM; June 9 - June 13)
  • Minecraft (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM; June 16 - June 18 & June 20)
  • Additional summer camps that focus on hands-on engineering activities will be available to Instructors when Minecraft and Esports camps are not in session.
Schedule

  • Full-Day Camps: Monday - Friday, 7 hours per day (or more with additional compensation)
 
Compensation: $500.00 - $630.00 per week
